The Legacy Southpaw

Legacy Southpaw is a restored antique Michigan maple butcher block created for the buyer who values character, texture, and industrial design with real history behind it. Named for the pronounced wear on the left side—believed to be the mark of a left-handed butcher—Southpaw preserves the story of the original block rather than sanding it into something generic.
The original working surface was intentionally retained, with cracks and age-related wear stabilized to preserve the integrity of the block while honoring its past. Finished in multiple coats of Waterlox, the maple has a warm, durable depth that highlights its age and material character. The custom steel frame was designed specifically around the way the block read—substantial, worn, and honest—giving it a strong architectural presence without overpowering the wood.
